500 yr old village pond / Water body Revival project
In year of 2020, covid first wave hit India in month of March and full lockdown was implemented for over 2 months. A small village Goner, near Jaipur ,is famous for its 500 yrs old Jagdish temple and a pond nearby . While the temple flourished due to its devotees , the pond was subject to neglect & pollution and It’s 3 draining tributaries were blocked.
This prevented the pond getting filled even during monsoons.
Auma foundation took initiative of Creating awareness amongst villagers and convincing govt. To sanction funds under mnrega program for revival of the jagannath sagar pond.
With the support of villagers and continuous monitoring over 3 months, 2 tributaries were cleared of blockages and the wall of the pond was repaired .
The pond got filled to the brim and even overflowed with the advent of the monsoon and brought smiles to all villagers and us too.
